Electric car battery broken? Finnish battery product saves thousands of euros – Expansion across Europe
Electric vehicles are now mainstream in Finland (BEVs accounted for 34.4% of new registrations in July 2025), but the fear of battery failures is holding some buyers back. Finnish Akkuauto Finland Oy is showing the way for the entire European market on how electric vehicle batteries can be protected and their lifespan extended. CHILL Battery Protectio) is a new service that combines proactive battery health checks and repair solutions – aiming to minimize sudden cost spikes and prolong battery life.
“The stock of used electric vehicles is growing rapidly, and an increasing number of EVs fall outside the warranty as they age – customers need reliable protection. We want to eliminate the uncertainty associated with purchasing used electric cars by offering alternatives that extend battery lifespan and support sustainable development,” says Janne Keränen, CEO, Akkuauto Finland Oy.
Replacing an electric car battery can cost up to tens of thousands of euros – but now there is a solution. Akkuauto Finland Oy is launching the CHILL Battery Protection service, which brings peace of mind to EV drivers and protects them from unexpected costs. The service offers monthly subscription protection that covers battery repairs and replacements for Teslas – with no age or mileage limits – and will expand to other brands soon.
What makes CHILL Battery Protection unique?
CHILL Battery Protection is a service that covers battery health checks, diagnostics, and, if necessary, repairs. It helps customers avoid surprising and often expensive battery failures. The service is aimed especially at owners of used Teslas and companies that want to ensure the operational reliability of their fleet. Before the contract takes effect, a battery inspection is carried out on the vehicles – partly remotely and partly physically on-site.
“The battery is the most valuable part of an electric car, and it’s condition directly affects the car’s lifespan and value. CHILL Battery Protection brings predictability and protect, making EV driving more worry-free. To our knowledge, our service is the only one that also covers moisture-related battery failures and does not set age or mileage limits. We also handle all repairs within our own network quickly and reliably,” says Heikki Jaakkola, CTO, Akkuauto Finland Oy.
